A ceremony to cancel stamped postcards took place in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

A solemn ceremony of commemorative cancellation of stamped postcards, dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the return of Sevastopol to Russia, took place in the building of the Main Post Office. A special cancellation is a postal cancellation organized by the postal service in honor of an outstanding event or memorable date. Such stamps differ from ordinary ones in that the text indicates the name of the event or memorable date to which they are dated — they are used in many countries and are currently one of the most common objects of philatelic collecting. The postcard will indicate today’s date — March 14, 2024.

A postcard dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the reunification of Sevastopol with Russia took place — a historical event not only for the residents of the peninsula, but also for the entire country. On March 18, we and all Sevastopol residents will celebrate the most important holiday for all of Russia — the anniversary of the Russian Spring. Events dedicated to this historical event have been taking place in our city since February 23 — on this day 10 years ago, Sevastopol residents went to Nakhimov Square for a People’s Will rally. We have postcards dedicated to the reunification of Sevastopol with Russia in 2014, one year as part of Russia, the 5th anniversary of the Russian Spring, and now the 10th anniversary. This postcard is a symbol of the unification and strength of the nation, it is an expression of pride in one’s country, — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes Deputy Governor Igor Mikheev.

Postal products redeemed on this day acquire special philatelic significance and will replenish the collections of philatelists and philocartists around the world. The author of the photograph taken as a basis is Yuri Yuganson.

The circulation of the marked postcard is 500 pieces. Postcards will be available for purchase at post offices in Sevastopol and the Republic of Crimea.
