A cleanup day was held in Sevastopol to coincide with International Black Sea Day

CrimeaPRESS reports:

International Black Sea Day is celebrated annually on October 31. Today, to mark this day, as part of the “Water of Russia” campaign, a cleanup event was held along the coastline of Victory Park. The “Water of Russia” campaign started in 2014, it is part of the federal project “Preservation of unique water bodies” of the national project “Ecology”. Schoolchildren and city volunteers took part in the cleanup; 20 bags of garbage were collected and removed.

The “Water of Russia” campaign was very popular among Sevastopol residents. It is extremely important for all of us to protect the natural environment and use natural resources efficiently and carefully.– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the director of the department of natural resources and ecology, Yulia Gavrilova.

The goal of today’s cleanup is to develop in schoolchildren a respectful attitude towards the environment, the sea, and skills in the field of environmental culture. About 50 volunteers and schoolchildren took part in the event, including students from schools No. 37, 15, the Engineering School, and the Center for Ecological and Naturalistic Creativity.

We are on vacation now, but I knew that today would be a cleanup day. I really wanted to take part in it, so I asked my parents to bring me specially from Yalta, to my classmatesnotes a 6th grade student at the School of Engineering.
