A “courier”, an accomplice of online scammers, was detained in Orenburg. Robbed elderly people in Crimea

The police detained a courier of telephone scammers who defrauded elderly people in Crimea (a 91-year-old and two 73-year-old citizens) of almost a million rubles under the “Your relative was in an accident” scheme.
Employees of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Kirov region established that the same person came to the victims for money. As a result of operational search activities, the identity of the suspect was established. He turned out to be a 39-year-old resident of the Krasnodar Territory, who was put on the federal wanted list. During further operational-search activities, his location in Orenburg was established. In cooperation with colleagues from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Orenburg, the suspect was detained and taken to the Republic of Crimea— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.
The man said that, wanting to earn extra money, he agreed to take part in a criminal scheme, the advertisement of which he found on a social network. After that, he received addresses in the messenger, to which he went and collected money from pensioners. The attacker transferred the stolen money to the account of the so-called curator, and set aside 7% of the amount for himself as earnings.
Criminal cases have been initiated under the article “Fraud”. The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to 6 years. A preventive measure in the form of arrest was chosen for the suspect. Police officers are taking further measures to establish additional episodes of criminal activity of the detainee.
