A Crimean citizen received a suspended sentence for committing an accident while intoxicated

The Leninsky District Prosecutor’s Office supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a 35-year-old local resident. The Crimean citizen was found guilty of committing a crime under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules by a person driving a car, resulting through negligence in causing grievous harm to human health, committed by a person in a state of intoxication).
According to investigators, in January of this year the man, while intoxicated, drove a Skoda Octavia car. While driving along the Tavrida-Zolote highway, he lost control of the vehicle and drove into a roadside ditch, followed by a collision with a tree. As a result of a traffic accident, the passenger of this car suffered serious harm to health.— reported the prosecutor’s office.
The court, taking into account the opinion of the state prosecutor, sentenced the man to 3 years and 1 month of suspended imprisonment with a probationary period of 2 years. In addition, the convicted person was deprived of the right to drive all types of vehicles for 2 years. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
