Customs officers have stopped the smuggling of military products into the UK.
Employees of the Southern Operational and Central Postal Customs, in the course of implementing the developed set of operational-search measures, stopped the smuggling of military products from Russia to the UK. According to the press service of the Southern Operational Customs, a 53-year-old Crimean citizen sent parcels with prohibited goods abroad as part of his commercial activities.
Customs officers prevented international shipment and seized items of military equipment of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation: anti-fragmentation vests, special uniforms for military personnel, crews of military equipment (fire-resistant suits).
When registering a parcel in Simferopol, the man indicated that the goods had a civilian purpose. In Moscow, based on the orientation of the Southern Operational Customs at the customs post of the Central Postal Customs, the parcel was detained and sent for examination. The Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation has established that the products being sent are classified as military goods and are in service with the Russian Armythe message says.
Let us recall that according to Russian legislation, individuals are prohibited from carrying out foreign trade activities in relation to military products. A criminal case has been initiated under Part 1 of Article 226.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (smuggling of other weapons), which provides for punishment of up to 7 years in prison.
