The Bakhchisarai District Court of the Republic of Crimea applied a compulsory medical measure to a resident of Bakhchisarai who brutally killed his mother. The court sent the man for compulsory treatment to a specialized medical psychiatric institution with intensive supervision.
The murder of his mother by a local resident in mid-March 2023 shocked not only the residents of the city, but also the operatives who had seen a lot and arrived at the crime scene. The materials of the criminal case established that a resident of Bakhchisarai, born in 1985, some time before committing the brutal crime, began to hear voices, against the background of which thoughts arose about liberating the world from evil. The man decided to begin his liberation with his mother living with him, who, according to him, was possessed by Satan. Early in the morning, obsessed with an idea, a man went into the bedroom of an elderly woman, where he strangled her, kneed her in the chest and stomach, then randomly slashed her face with a utility knife. The injuries caused caused the death of the woman. After the death of the mother, the killer struck the victim at least 11 more times with a stationery knife— reported the press service of the court.
According to the conclusion of a forensic psychiatric examination, at the time of committing the act charged with him, the man had a temporary mental disorder, which deprived him of the ability to realize the actual nature of his actions and manage them. The murder was committed by him in a state of insanity.
