A Crimean resident reached the finals of the competition in high-speed video game development of the All-Russian competition “Start the Game”

A retoucher by profession and video game developer by passion, Ivan Kolesnik single-handedly made the game “RunAway” in 72 hours and reached the finals of the game jam of the “Start the Game” project. presidential platform “Russia – the land of opportunities”. Now he has to “defend” his idea before gaming industry experts at the final presentation. The “Start the Game” project is being implemented within the framework of the federal project “Social elevators for everyone” of the national project “Education”.

For the assessment of experts, Ivan Kolesnik from Feodosia presented an arcade game in which the user needs to overcome various obstacles and outwit opponents. A dynamic game plot, varied levels and exciting boosts are the strengths of “RunAway”.

The second game jam of the “Start the Game” project started on November 24. 53 teams joined it — that’s 115 participants aged from 18 to 45 years. They represented 33 constituent entities of Russia, as well as Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. In 72 hours, they managed to develop 36 gaming products for PC and mobile devices on the theme “Need for Speed.” The topic was determined by the team of the SMP Racing Russian Motorsport Development Program.

The criteria for evaluating game projects were exciting gameplay and quality of the visual component, technical implementation and absence of bugs, ease of control, clarity of gameplay and relevance to the theme.

In total, six teams reached the finals — that’s 18 people, representing Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan, Crimea and the Udmurt Republic, as well as the Rostov, Samara, Nizhny Novgorod and Ulyanovsk regions.

The winning teams will be determined after the final presentation of game projects, which will take place on December 6 in an online format. Experts will determine the winners of the game jam in the categories “Best Game” and “Best Match to the Theme.” In addition, the audience of the SMP Racing Russian Motorsport Development Program will choose their favorite, and the game jam participants will choose the winner of the audience award.

The award ceremony for the four best teams will take place on December 10 at a meeting of newcomers and experts in the gaming industry in St. Petersburg. In addition to the approval of like-minded people, they will win merch and an annual subscription to the stages of the Russian circuit racing series SMP Racing in 2024.
