A Crimean woman threw her newborn into a cesspool. A criminal case has been initiated

It has now been established that a resident of the area, born in 1997, gave birth to a child on May 17 of this year. According to the woman, she threw it into the toilet cesspool. <…> A criminal case has been initiated and is being investigated under Art. 106 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder of a newborn child by a mother),” says the press service of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Crimea.

The prosecutor’s office clarified that the woman is not officially employed; she is already raising two minor children born in 2015 and 2018. Previously, the family was not registered with the authorities of the prevention and neglect system, and the woman did not go to medical institutions in connection with pregnancy.

Now law enforcement agencies are investigating all the circumstances of the case, and they will also evaluate the work of officials of the system for the prevention of neglect and juvenile delinquency.
