A Crimean woman wanted to cheat when receiving maternity capital. Cashed out, there will be a trial

The Krasnogvardeisky district prosecutor’s office supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a local resident. The Crimean woman was found guilty of committing a crime under Part 3 of Art. 159.2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud in receiving payments).

The court established that the convict, being a mother of two children, wishing to cash out funds from her maternity capital, in August 2018 applied to a consumer credit cooperative operating in the region. An official of the cooperative prepared a fictitious agreement for the purchase of a condemned plot of land in the Astrakhan region.

Next, the woman entered into a consumer loan agreement with the cooperative for the construction of a residential building on the allegedly acquired land plot.

In order to cash out funds from maternity capital, the attacker provided the territorial administration of the pension fund of the Russian Federation with deliberately false information about the disposal of funds from maternity capital, which the woman allegedly used to pay off the debt to the cooperative. In this way, the defendant received more than 428 thousand rubles, part of which she transferred to an official of a credit consumer cooperative, and disposed of the rest at her own discretion— reported the prosecutor’s office.

The criminal case against the cooperative official has been separated into separate proceedings, the investigation into which is ongoing.

The court, taking into account the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the woman to 8 months in prison, which was suspended with a probationary period for a similar period. The prosecutor’s claim to recover damages caused by the crime from the defendant was also satisfied.
