Sevastopol police detained a 19-year-old “courier” suspected of stealing 112 thousand rubles from a woman’s bank account.

It was established that a 57-year-old local resident found an advertisement on the Internet about quickly issuing a credit card with delivery to the client and decided to take advantage of the tempting offer. The woman met with a young man who identified himself as a representative of a credit institution, discussed all the nuances with him and handed over copies of her documents— said the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

After the registration procedure, the 19-year-old courier replaced the bank card and gave the client another one, the account of which had no funds. Subsequently, the young man cashed out 112 thousand rubles and spent it on buying an expensive smartphone.

As a result of operational search activities, employees of the criminal investigation department of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Gagarinsky district detained a suspect. The investigative department of the Department of Internal Affairs initiated a criminal case against the detainee under Part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Theft”), he faces up to six years in prison.
