In order to improve the level of road safety, reduce mortality and prevent road accidents with high severity, a set of preventive measures “Decade of Road Safety” is being carried out in Crimea from September 20 to 30.
According to the traffic police, within the framework of the ten-day period, it is planned to conduct mass checks of drivers for driving while intoxicated.
Is the measure unpopular? Statistics show: over 8 months of this year, 889 accidents were registered on the roads of Crimea, in which 143 people died and 1,115 were injured of varying degrees of severity. An increased public danger is posed by offenses related to the driving of vehicles by drivers with signs of intoxication, due to which 15 accidents were committed with fatalities.
There were 131 road accidents involving children under 16 years of age, in which 9 children died and 143 were injured.
The main types of accidents resulting in fatalities are vehicle collisions, pedestrian collisions, road run-offs and collisions with obstacles. The largest number of deaths as a result of road accidents is associated with driving into oncoming traffic. In 93 such accidents, 39 people died and 148 received various injuries.said the traffic police.
The Crimean State Traffic Inspectorate once again reminds road users of the need to strictly comply with the requirements of the Road Traffic Rules of the Russian Federation.
