A delegation from 23 countries visited Artek: “Everything that is here is for children, and it is very valuable”
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Foreign participants of the World Youth Festival, which took place in Sirius, arrived in the Republic of Crimea. The delegation included 36 people from 23 countries, their program lasted 5 days. On March 12, foreign guests visited the Artek International Children’s Center. A rich program awaited the participants: the guests immersed themselves in the history and traditions of Artek and created the “Tree of Friendship” art object.
The first site to visit was the Artek school. Foreign guests were given a tour of the school’s educational spaces: they were shown classrooms of Russian language and literature, an exhibition with drawings by Artek students, a museum of military glory, a museum of the Northern Military District, a location of the First Movement, a library and a media library.
In fact, on the territory of Artek you can really feel your childhood. I am sure that people work here who want to develop children’s potential so that children turn out to be responsible and intelligent adults. We visited a school where we saw many modern classes dedicated to different writers and poets. Artek has amazing infrastructure and atmospheresaid Artem Rudkovsky, Luxembourg.
The next location for foreign guests was one of the iconic places of the Center — the Memorial of Glory. Participants in the Requiem of Memory learned that the monument to the soldiers of the Separate Primorsky Army who died during the liberation of Artek was opened in May 1985 to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. An integral part of the Artek Glory Memorial was the “Alley of Artek Heroes” — the faces of young pioneers, heroes of our country, frozen in marble. Members of the foreign delegation paid tribute to the memory of the victims and laid flowers at the obelisk.
I’ve heard about Artek many times, but I’ve never been here before. This is an incredibly large-scale children’s center. Crimean nature reminds me of my country: on one side there is the sea, and on the other there are mountains. Artek has developed a lot of interesting areas, including modern classrooms at school, sports entertainment, and patriotic events. Everything that is here is for children, and it is very valuable.noted Arina Chagava from Abkhazia.
Among the guests of the children’s center is the American, documentary director Regis Trembley, he did not hide his emotions:
Artek school is simply amazing! I am impressed by so many interesting locations, exhibitions and children’s drawings. We visited the Alley of Artek Heroes and laid flowers. The story of these children is impressive.
The young people spent the whole day getting to know Artek. We visited the sports and tourism cluster of the Artek International Children’s Center — a climbing wall, a rope park and a Sports Palace. At the children’s camp «Morskoy» we walked through the oldest olive grove in Crimea, a magnolia alley, and visited the monument to the young ambassador of peace — American schoolgirl Samantha Smith. We admired the scale of the Artek Arena concert and stage complex and got acquainted with the center for additional education. At the Suuk-Su Palace, they looked at historical exhibits and the Cosmos Museum, opened on the initiative of the first cosmonaut of the Earth, Yuri Gagarin.
In memory of their stay at the children’s center, representatives of different countries all together created an international art object. The “Tree of Friendship” will remind you that Artek is a hospitable Country of Childhood for children and adults from different continents.
I had already heard about Artek, my friend from Russia told me about it. But when I came here, I was amazed by the beauty and scale of the children’s center. I think the most important thing I learned today is that children come here from all over the world. We created a friendship tree and now they can find the flags of their country there and feel at home– shared Luan Mareulo from Brazil.
During a study tour of Crimea, foreign guests visited the Crimean Federal University, Tavrida, the famous palaces of the Southern Coast of Crimea, visited the cellars of the Massandra winemaking association, saw the Holy Dormition Cave Monastery of Bakhchisarai, walked around Little Jerusalem in Evpatoria and met with leaders of non-profit youth organizations.
The theme of the decade of the Crimean Spring ran through all the events. They represented different countries and saw how Crimean youth live in the Russian Federation, what changes have occurred in the 10 years since Crimea returned to Russia. The trip to Artek, where the WFM participants spent the whole day, was special for everyone.
