A drug dealer with a large shipment of “synthetics” was detained in Sevastopol

In Sevastopol, drug control operatives detained a Crimean citizen who intended to sell a large batch of mephedrone.

The attacker turned out to be a 49-year-old unemployed resident of the Republic of Crimea, who had previously been convicted several times, including for illegal transactions with narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

Earlier, drug control officers received information that the man may be involved in the sale of drugs using caches in Sevastopol, and may also store large quantities of mephedrone at his place of residence. As a result of operational search activities, the attacker was detained by police with the forceful support of the special forces detachment «Thunder».

It was established that the suspect got a job as a pawnbroker in one of the drug markets in the shadow segment of the Internet. Having received a large batch of narcotic drugs for sale, at the direction of the curator, the man equipped caches with mephedrone in the Leninsky district of Sevastopol, and continued to store the rest of the “synthetics” in an apartment that he specially rented for illegal activities in the Gagarinsky district— said the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

During an inspection of the suspect’s place of residence, police officers found a polymer bag and a glass jar with the narcotic drug “mephedrone” with a total weight of about 55 grams, as well as packaging material and electronic scales. The detainee also voluntarily showed the places where he had set up caches with narcotic drugs, during inspection of which the police found 33 packages of mephedrone with a total weight of about 58 grams.

The investigative departments of the Department of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Gagarinsky and Leninsky districts have opened criminal cases against the suspect under Part 3 of Art. 30, paragraph “d”, part 4, art. 228.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, he faces up to 20 years in prison.
