A festival of opera and ballet named after Sergei Prokofiev is announced in Crimea

Holding the festival in Crimea is not accidental, noted the Minister of Culture of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Mikhail Zheltyakov.
Crimea and the DPR are close friends. We have been close friends and cooperation for a long time. Today, the festival organizers have raised a large cultural layer of opera and ballet on the birthday of Sergei Sergeevich Prokofiev, which will be celebrated on April 23“, Zheltyakov said.
The program, which will cover the Republic of Crimea, includes a gala concert of ballet stars with the participation of artists from the Bolshoi Theater, the opera “Love for Three Oranges” by the Mari State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater. Erika Sapaeva, ballets “Kid and Carlson” and “Romeo and Juliet” of the Donetsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theater.
The general producer of the festival, Honored Artist of Russia Aidar Shaidullin, said that the performances will also be held in Sevastopol. In total, about 800 artists were invited to participate in the festival. It will end on April 27. The festival is supported by the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives.
About Prokofiev
Russian and Soviet composer, pianist, conductor S. S. Prokofiev (1891-1953) — a native of Donbass. The creative heritage consists of more than 130 musical works, including seven ballets, eight operas, and seven symphonies. Prokofiev visited Crimea twice in 1913.
