A gang of extortionists was operating in the Belogorsk region of Crimea

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In the Belogorsk region of Crimea, members of an organized group found guilty of fraud and extortion were convicted. Based on the evidence presented by the state prosecutor (depending on the role and degree of participation), five local residents were found guilty of committing crimes under Part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud), paragraph “a”, part 3 of Art. 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (extortion), part 2 of Art. 325 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (theft of a citizen’s passport).

One of the accused in 2021 created and led an organized group, in which he attracted his acquaintances to participate. The men were looking for citizens who were promised that they could purchase expensive equipment from the store with a loan, and subsequently, without paying back the borrowed funds. For this purpose, they went with the victims to the store where one of the defendants worked; at the instructions of the attackers, the citizens chose expensive equipment, after which they handed it over to a member of the group.

The defendants disposed of it, selling it to third parties, and distributed funds totaling 350 thousand rubles among themselves.

In addition, in May 2021, members of an organized group extorted money from an acquaintance, using violence against him, and one of the attackers stole the victim’s passport,” the prosecutor’s office provided details.

The court, agreeing with the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the defendants to various terms of imprisonment — from 1 to 8 years, which they will serve in general and strict regime correctional colonies. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
