A hungry thief entered the cafe at night, but failed to profit from the food. Case in Bakhchisarai

In Bakhchisarai, the police, in hot pursuit, detained a suspect in the failed theft of food.

A 36-year-old citizen contacted the duty station of the Russian Department of Internal Affairs in the Bakhchisarai district and reported that an unknown person had entered the cafe where he works at night. The uninvited guest took food from the refrigerator, but noticing that someone was coming, he abandoned the stolen goods and disappeared in an unknown direction. In a matter of hours, police officers carried out a number of operational search activities and established the identity of the suspect. He turned out to be a previously convicted 37-year-old local resident— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.

The attacker confessed to his crime and explained that he spent his leisure time in one of the establishments where he drank alcohol with friends. On the way home, through a roller window, he entered the cafe, which was located opposite his place of leisure in order to get food. Hearing approaching steps and afraid of being caught, he abandoned the stolen goods and fled the crime scene.

The investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Bakhchisarai region opened a criminal case against the citizen on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Art. 30, part 2 art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years.
