A Kerch man paid with his life for trying to take vodka from the table and leave with it

The Kerch City Court sentenced a 47-year-old Kerch resident to 6 years of imprisonment, to be served in a general regime penal colony, for intentionally causing serious bodily harm dangerous to a person’s life, using an object used as a weapon, which resulted in the death of the victim through negligence. She had previously been convicted twice for committing similar crimes.

As established by the court, on 18.02.2024, the defendant, while in the kitchen at her place of residence, in a state of alcoholic intoxication, during a quarrel with a previously familiar friend, which arose on the basis of personal hostility, intentionally struck at least 5 times with the palm of her right hand in the area of ​​​​vital organs — the head, after which she found a wooden block in the kitchen and intentionally struck at least 2 times with it in the area of ​​​​vital organs — the head of her acquaintance. Not stopping there, the defendant, continuing to implement her criminal intent, forcefully struck the above-mentioned block, using it as a weapon, at least 8 times on the right hand of her acquaintance, which the latter had put out, defending himself from the blows— the court’s press service noted.

According to the defendant’s testimony given during the preliminary investigation, the defendant, after drinking alcohol with a previously familiar friend, saw that he was trying to take a bottle of vodka and hide it behind his outerwear, she in turn began to express claims and obscene language towards him, since he wanted to take vodka that he did not buy. After that, she struck him about 2 times in the head with a bar, since she wanted to cause him physical pain. After that, she and her partner carried him to the basement, after which they returned to the house. She believed that her friend would not die, but sober up in the basement, come to his senses and go home on his own, but this did not happen.

The victim died on 21.02.2024 in the State Healthcare Institution of the Republic of Crimea “Kerch Hospital No. 1 named after N.I. Pirogov”.
