A large amount of marijuana was seized from illicit trafficking in the Saki region

Employees of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia “Saksky”, as part of measures to combat drug crime in the region, received operational information about the involvement of local residents in drug trafficking.

During an inspection of the home, the 65-year-old suspect, who had no previous convictions, found five plastic bags containing dried parts of a gray-green plant with a specific odor. The total weight of the seizure was 300 grams. Also, in the house of a previously unconvicted 49-year-old resident of another village, criminal investigation officers found two newspaper bundles and a polymer bag with crushed dried parts of the plant, the total weight of which was 100 grams. The suspects explained that this is marijuana obtained by drying found wild hemp bushes, which they store for personal use, without the purpose of sale. The examination confirmed that the seized dried parts of the gray-green plant with a specific odor are a narcotic drug of plant origin — marijuana in large quantities,” noted the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Crimea.

Employees of the investigation and inquiry of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia “Saksky” initiated criminal cases against the suspects on the grounds of crimes under Part 2 of Art. 228 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Illegal acquisition, storage, transportation of plants containing narcotic drugs in large quantities.” The sanction of the article provides for a punishment of three to ten years in prison. A preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place was chosen against the defendants.
