A large-scale Day of Russian Science will be held in Sevastopol

February 8 is the Day of Russian Science. As part of the celebration, a solemn raising of the flag on the research vessel of the SevGU Pioneer-M will take place at the Sevastopol State University.
This is a unique ship with unmanned navigation technology, the first unmanned research vessel in Russia. Students of Russian universities took part in its design and construction. The vessel has unmanned navigation technologies thanks to an integrated control system and interaction with marine mobile research laboratories. Pioneer-M will be operated in the waters of the Black and Azov Seas, and the first expedition will take place this year.
On the Day of Russian Science, schoolchildren, students and all those interested will be able to attend excursions, lectures and master classes at all locations of the Sevastopol State University.

Recall that on February 8 1724, by decree of Peter I, the Russian Academy of Sciences was formed — the leading scientific center of the country. Officially, the Day of Russian Science was established by decree of the President of the Russian Federation in 1999 year. The document says that the holiday was established, taking into account «the outstanding role of Russian science in the development of society and the state, following historical traditions and commemorating the anniversary of the founding of the Academy of Sciences in Russia.» In 2024 the Russian Academy of Sciences will celebrate its 300 anniversary.
