A lost bank card is not your card! Theft in Sevastopol

A local resident inadvertently lost his bank card on the street and an attacker took advantage of this.
A 58-year-old resident of Sevastopol turned to the duty unit of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the Gagarinsky District. The man said that in the evening he lost his bank card on one of the streets of the city, and in the morning, noticing the loss, he immediately turned to the bank branch to block it, but more than 16 thousand rubles had already been spent from it. As a result of the measures taken, officers of the patrol service of the police of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Gagarinsky district detained the suspect. It turned out to be a 40-year-old local resident. The man confessed to his deed and said that he picked up someone else’s bank card on the street and, using contactless payment options throughout the night, made purchases in various stores, and when the card was blocked, he threw it away— noted in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for the city of Sevastopol.
A criminal case was initiated against the suspect under part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation «Theft». The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to six years.
