In Kerch, the court delivered a verdict in a criminal case against a 33-year-old resident of the Krasnodar Territory. He was found guilty of committing crimes under Part.ch. 2, 4 art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud).
The court established that the defendant acted as a courier in an organized group of telephone scammers who called elderly residents of the city of Kerch and informed them that their relatives or acquaintances had committed offenses, including those responsible for traffic accidents. The perpetrators convinced the victims that they had to hand over the money in order not to hold their relatives accountable. This money was taken from them by the defendant. In total, in this way, the attackers lured about 1 million rubles from 3 elderly residents of the city— told the prosecutor’s office of the Republic of Crimea.
