A member of an organized group engaged in extortion from businessmen was sentenced in Sevastopol

Agreeing with the position of the state prosecutor of the prosecutor’s office of the city of Sevastopol, the court convicted the 51-year-old local resident.
He was found guilty under paragraphs. “a”, “b” part 3 art. 163 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (extortion committed by an organized group in order to obtain property on an especially large scale). It was established that the attacker was part of an organized group engaged in extorting property from business representatives. In the period from 2009 to 2012, together with four accomplices, he demanded from an entrepreneur who worked in the field of passenger road transportation, funds in the amount of almost 24 million rubles for the unhindered conduct of business. Using violence and threats, they were able to obtain almost 2.4 million rubles from the victim.,” reported the press service of the Sevastopol prosecutor’s office.
The criminal activities of the group were stopped by criminal investigation officers. The investigation of the criminal case was carried out by the investigative department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
The Leninsky District Court of Sevastopol sentenced the perpetrator to imprisonment for a term of 7 years in a maximum security correctional colony.
The convict is taken into custody in the courtroom.
One of the man’s accomplices was convicted earlier by the same district court. Three more attackers are wanted.
