A memorial plaque in memory of the commander of the 2nd submarine brigade of the Black Sea Fleet, Mikhail Solovyov, appeared on house number 1 on Solovyov Street. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the Government of Sevastopol, members of veteran and public organizations, the Black Sea Fleet Orchestra, the daughter of Mikhail Solovyov, school students and residents of the city.
This is a very important event for our city. As they say, who does not remember history, he has no future. Submariners are warriors of the invisible front. Mikhail Solovyov since 1939 actively participated in the organization of the submarine forces of the Black Sea Fleet, being the commander of one of the submarine brigades, during the Great Patriotic War he was chief of staff, commander of a division. This is everyday hard work. And it was with this work that the submariners made a huge contribution to the victory in the war. During the Great Patriotic War, seven heroes of the Soviet Union were submariners— the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the chairman of the regional public organization «Sevastopol Council of Submarine Veterans» Vitaly Mantorov.
Mikhail Georgievich Solovyov — commander of the 2nd brigade of submarines of the Black Sea Fleet, captain of the 1st rank, participant in the defense and liberation of Sevastopol. In the post-war years, he served in the Main Inspectorate of the USSR Ministry of Defense, headed the section of submarines in the Marine Scientific and Technical Committee of the Navy, taught at the Naval Academy.
