A mobile palliative care service is being developed in Crimea

CrimeaPRESS reports:

A mobile palliative care service is being developed in Crimea. This was reported by the Deputy Minister of Health of the Republic of Crimea Anton Lyaskovsky.

Over the past two years, 15 mobile palliative care teams have been created in Crimea. Vehicles and necessary equipment were purchased for their formation — portable ventilators, oxygen concentrators, cough suppressants and much more. Doctors and nursing staff visit terminally ill patients at home to monitor them, treat pain syndrome and other severe manifestations of the disease. Specialists organize consultations with specialists, provide psychological support to the patient and his relatives, teach skills of care and use of medical devices for respiratory support, oxygen therapy and so on at home.— said Lyaskovsky.

This year, it is planned to create four more mobile teams to provide palliative care at home - two in the Republican Children's Clinical Hospital and one each in the Kirov and Lenin Central District Hospitals. A car and medical equipment will be purchased for each team,

Currently, two mobile palliative care teams operate in the Simferopol Palliative Care Center and the Feodosia Medical Center, and one team operates in the Republican Children’s Clinical Hospital, the Simferopol Central District Clinical Hospital, the Simferopol Polyclinic No. 2, the Saksky District Hospital, the Yevpatoriya City Hospital, the Kerch City Hospital No. 3, as well as the Belogorsk, Dzhankoy, Bakhchisarai, Chernomorsk and Krasnoperekopsk Central District Hospitals.

This year, within the framework of the regional program of the Republic of Crimea “Development of the palliative care system,” it is planned to purchase more than 80 units of equipment to retrofit inpatient palliative and nursing departments, as well as visiting visiting teams. In addition, it is planned to purchase over 88 thousand units of medical products for use at home by patients who need to maintain the functions of organs and body systems.
