Krympress reports:
In the Artek MDC, in the territory of the Solnechnaya children’s camp under construction, the solemn opening of the monument to St. Luke of Crimean (V.F. Voyno-Yasenetsky) took place. The ceremony was attended by Metropolitan Simferopol and Crimean Tikhon, as well as honorary guests of Artek: First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of Russia Sergey Kiriyenko, Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Chernyshenko, Minister of Education of the Russian Federation Sergey Kravtsov, head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksenov, Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhaev.
The monument to the Confessor and St. Luke, Archbishop, an outstanding surgeon and professor of medicine was installed near the Center for Innovative Educational Technologies. As emphasized in the Artek MDC, this is the first significant event in the territory of the Solnechnaya children’s camp under construction. The sculptural complex in the International Children’s Center will become a symbol of light and good, a symbol of creation and prosperity for the benefit of peaceful childhood.
Saint Luke, in the world-Valentin Feliksovich Voino-Yasenetsky, devoted life to serving people through medicine and faith. His scientific works and spiritual heritage inspire people today. Despite severe trials, persecution and repression, he did not lose love for God, people and his homeland.
It was this life position and history of the saint that served as the basis for creating a sculptural sculpture made by the famous monumentalist Vitaly Shanov. The ideological inspirer of the monument was Metropolitan Tikhon. The sculpture is made in the traditions of iconography and embodies light and good, symbolizing creation and prosperity for the sake of peaceful childhood.
Particular support in the implementation of the project was provided by Vladimir Medinsky, assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, chairman of the Russian military historical society.
The solemn ceremony ended with the words of St. Luke: “Everything is pure, all bright, kind and truthful that we see in children, we must set an example for ourselves, we must always follow the example of the great humility of small children.”
This event has become an important stage in the way to the Artek anniversary (this year it turns 100 years old) and laid a strong spiritual foundation for the education of a new generation in an atmosphere of good, faith and science.
