A moped near the house = a reason to “take him away”? Theft in Saki
CrimeaPRESS reports:
An 18-year-old local resident contacted the Saki police department to report the theft of a moped. The young man said that a vehicle left unattended on the street was stolen at night. The declared damage amounted to 40 thousand rubles.
Police quickly identified and detained the suspects, who turned out to be local residents aged 18 and 20 years.
In the courtyard of a private house where the youngest of the suspects lives, the applicant’s moped was found, which was disassembled. On the same day, his senior accomplice was detained by patrol officers based on orientation on the patrol route.
The young people admitted their guilt and explained that they stole the moped with the aim of dismantling it for parts and selling it. The funds received were planned to be spent on their own needs.
The investigator of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia “Saksky” opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 2 of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”. The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to 5 years.
A preventive measure in the form of a recognizance not to leave the place was chosen against the 18-year-old suspect. A 20-year-old Crimean citizen was detained in accordance with Article 91 of the Code of Criminal Procedure of the Russian Federation.
The vehicle was returned to its rightful owner.
