A motorist from Simferopol will go to prison for drunk driving
CrimeaPRESS reports:
I was also left without a car.
The prosecutor’s office of the Central District of Simferopol supported the state prosecution in a criminal case against a previously convicted local resident. The man was found guilty under Part 2 of Art. 264.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (driving a vehicle by a person who is intoxicated and has a criminal record for a similar crime).
The court found that the man, having a criminal record for driving while intoxicated, did not draw the appropriate conclusions for himself and in October last year, after drinking alcohol, he again began driving a VAZ 21011 car. Driving along 60 Let Oktyabrya Street in the city of Simferopol, the convict was stopped by traffic police officers— said the prosecutor’s office.
The court, taking into account the existing criminal record and the position of the state prosecutor, sentenced the man to 6 months in prison with deprivation of the right to drive all types of vehicles for 4 years. He will serve his sentence in a penal colony.
A VAZ 21011 car belonging to the convicted person was confiscated to the state. The verdict did not enter into legal force.
