A murder committed almost a quarter of a century ago has been solved in Crimea

CrimeaPRESS reports:

«Someone else’s life» did not save the killer.

In Crimea, a charge was brought in the murder of a cadet of the Simferopol police school, committed 24 years ago (in March 199). Based on the results of a thorough systematic work to investigate crimes of past years, carried out in cooperation with the operational officers of the criminal investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Republic of Crimea, a resident of the Moscow region was detained on charges of committing this especially grave act.

It was established that on the evening of March 5, cadets of the 1st year of the Simferopol police school, who were relaxing in the Cosmos cafe on Gagarin Street in Simferopol, decided to congratulate girls from a neighboring company on the upcoming International Women’s Day. The brother of one of them did not like it, a scuffle ensued, during which the 17-year-old attacker, who was a medical student, stabbed the 18-year-old cadet in the abdomen.

The suspect returned home to Sevastopol, changed clothes, packed his things and disappeared in an unknown direction. The injured young man was taken to a medical facility, where he died a few days later.— details were reported in the Investigative Committee.

The measures taken by law enforcement agencies at that time to search for and detain the attacker did not bring results, although his identity and social circle were established.

After the formation in 2014 of the bodies of the Russian Investigative Committee on the peninsula, investigators and forensic investigators again began to study archival materials about crimes of past years, on which operational-search activities and investigative actions were again carried out. The result was the disclosure of a 24-year-old murder. The investigation charged the man in absentia and chose a measure of restraint in the form of detention— noted in the Sledkom.

It is interesting that the killer, for the purpose of conspiracy, completely changed the passport data, taking the last name, first name and patronymic of his classmate, indicating even his parents in the document as his own. He led a fairly wealthy lifestyle, working as a technologist at a plant near Moscow.

Currently, the accused has been transferred to the city of Simferopol in order to carry out all the necessary investigative actions. The investigator works with eyewitnesses of those events, establishing in detail the circumstances of the crime.
