A national route “Golden Ring of the Bosporan Kingdom” is being created in Crimea
CrimeaPRESS reports:
Today we are working on creating a national route “Golden Ring of the Bosporan Kingdom”, which will unite the ancient heritage of four regions of Russia — Crimea and Sevastopol, Krasnodar Territory and Rostov Region. For domestic tourism, this is important not only and not so much from the point of view of increasing tourist flow, but for creating additional meanings for studying Crimea as the place of the birth of Christianity and Orthodoxy in Russia — in Chersonesos, the birth of statehood — in ancient Kerch, based on humane universal values. I am confident that thanks to the scientific community, museum workers, and tourism experts, we will create a truly popular route between regions — a symbolic Crimean bridge between Byzantine and Russian civilizations,” the minister’s press service quotes.
Sergey Ganziy reported that since 2022, a special program of the Russian Federation has been implemented for the development of domestic and inbound tourism, which is included in the national project “Tourism and Hospitality Industry” — the project “National Tourist Routes”, which provides for the creation of tourist routes that have passed an expert assessment and meet the criteria and the requirements of a modern tourist who has a ready-made program, which should include visits to cultural and historical heritage sites and gastronomic points of attraction; acquaintance with unique natural monuments and national parks, nature reserves, etc.
The project “Golden Ring of the Bosporan Kingdom” was developed by the Krasnodar regional branch of the Russian Geographical Society together with the Governments of the Krasnodar Territory, the Republic of Crimea, the city of Sevastopol and the Rostov region in 2018 with the aim of uniting the ancient heritage of the southern regions associated with the history of the Bosporus, and represents our country as one of the unique centers of ancient culture and civilization. The project united 4 regions, 14 cities of Russia, more than 40 museums, more than 100 research and tourism organizations, more than 1000 specialists and was included in the list of ten priority routes in Russia focused on inbound tourism. In 2023, the objects included in the Golden Ring of the Bosporan Kingdom project, according to the Russian Geographical Society, were visited by 1.7 million people.
The event was attended by the Chairman of the State Council of the Republic of Crimea Vladimir Konstantinov, Metropolitan of Simferopol and Crimea Tikhon (Shevkunov), co-chairman of the Crimean branch of the International public organization «World Russian People’s Council», chairman of the supervisory board of the Interregional public organization «Russian Unity» Elena Aksyonova, head of the scientific Expert Council of the Byzantine Club, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Department of History of the Middle Ages of Moscow State University, Chairman of the National Committee of Byzantinists of the Russian Federation, member of the Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church Sergei Karpov, Minister of Culture of the Republic of Crimea Tatyana Manezhina, Director of the East Crimean Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve Tatyana Umrikhina, representatives of the scientific community, clergy, legislative and executive authorities, public organizations and others.
Based on the results of the discussion, it is planned to adopt a resolution (appeal) of the participants in the meeting of the Byzantine Club.
