A native of Simferopol was convicted in absentia for the acquisition, transportation and carrying of explosive devices

By the verdict of the Simferopol District Court of the Republic of Crimea dated July 3, 2024, a native of Simferopol, born in 1977, citizen G., who is on the federal wanted list, was convicted in absentia for the illegal acquisition, transportation and carrying of a hand grenade.
On February 26, 2022, citizen G. purchased an explosive device — a hand grenade — in an unspecified place without proper permission, with which he went on a trolleybus to the village of Perevalnoye, Simferopol District, and continued to carry it with him until it was discovered by police officers. For the crime committed, the court sentenced the guilty person to a criminal penalty in the form of imprisonment for a term of 6 (six) years to be served in a general regime penal colony with a fine of 50,000 (fifty thousand) rubles, — the court’s press service reported.
When sentencing, the court took into account the circumstances of the criminal case as a whole, the personality of the defendant, as well as the nature and degree of public danger of the crime he committed.
The term of the imposed punishment will be calculated from the moment of transfer of the guilty person to the law enforcement agencies of the Russian Federation in the event of extradition or deportation to the territory of the Russian Federation, or from the moment of his detention on the territory of the Russian Federation.
The sentence has not entered into legal force.
