A new angiograph appeared in the oncological dispensary of Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

A new angiograph, which appeared in the Sevastopol city oncological dispensary named after. A. A. Zadorozhny, is equipment that allows for minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic interventions under X-ray and ultrasound control. Thanks to the angiograph, specialists will be able to significantly expand the methods of treating malignant neoplasms and increase the survival of patients with oncology at all stages of the disease.

This device has many possibilities. Here you can get not only a flat picture, but also such a picture as with computed tomography, and directly during the intervention. This is especially valuable for intervention in blood vessels , — the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the chief physician of the oncological dispensary Vasily Oshchepkov.

The digital stationary x-ray angiography system also has an ultrasound imaging system for the cardiovascular system. Experts note that due to the high-quality image from different projections and angles, which is transmitted in real time, it is possible to perform the entire range of modern endovascular operations in oncology: embolization, chemoembolization, chemoinfusion, radioembolization.

In other words, a dose of a highly concentrated antitumor drug is injected directly into the focus, which avoids a general toxic effect on the body. Also, under the control of an angiograph, surgeons install port systems in the central veins for long-term and repeated administration of chemotherapy drugs when intravenous administration is impossible. This is what makes it possible to get a positive response to therapy.

The special advantages of this device are low trauma, because there are no large incisions, everything is done through the puncture hole. Systemic exposure to chemotherapy drugs is excluded. All operations are performed under local anesthesia, which eliminates the risk of anesthesia. It also reduces the time of surgery. All operations will be carried out on average within an hour , — emphasizes the head of the department of X-ray surgical methods of treatment Ildar Gabdullin.

Recall that the first operations on an angiograph are planned in the near future. Equipment worth 96 million rubles was purchased as part of the Healthcare national project.
