A new subject will appear in Russian schools instead of life safety.

From September 1, 2024, the subject “Basic Security and Defense of the Motherland” will appear in Russian schools. About it informed Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy and Management in the Sphere of General Education of the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation Anna Timofeeva.

A working group is being formed that will deal with the formation of a new federal training program, which will include both representatives of the Ministry of Defense and representatives of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, since we understand the importance and complexity of this work— said Timofeeva.

In parallel, a new textbook will be prepared.

Now it is planned to amend the law «On Education» in order to rename the subject of life safety, as well as adjust state educational standards. What exactly?

In terms of both content and substantive results, personal results, because we understand that we must supplement the constituent part of patriotic education— said the Deputy Director of the Department of State Policy.

Recall that the subject «Fundamentals of Life Safety» is planned to be renamed «Fundamentals of Security and Defense of the Motherland», last week reported Minister of Education of Russia Sergey Kravtsov. He also assured that the causes of SVO will be studied in schools in the 10th and 11th grades.
