A night traffic accident in Simferopol involving an activist of the Public Chamber turned into a criminal case

This night in Simferopol, on Kievskaya Street there was a massive accident. It was previously reported that there were several injuries and the serious condition of the 62-year-old driver, whose car was hit by the culprit of the accident. Unfortunately, the man died in the hospital.

Well, the culprit of the accident, and this has already been confirmed, is a member of the Public Chamber of Crimea Oleg Shcherbakov.

It was established that the driver was born in 1987. A Volkswagen Touareg collided with two cars. As a result of the accident, the driver of the Skoda Octavia was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

The investigation of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol opened a criminal case on the grounds of a crime under Part 4 of Art. 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Violation of traffic rules and operation of vehicles). Automotive, forensic and biological examinations have been scheduled, the conclusions of which will be added to the materials of the criminal case. Investigation continues— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.

Shcherbakov’s membership in the Public Chamber of the Republic of Crimea has been suspended.

Upon the fact of a traffic accident involving a member of the Public Chamber of the Republic of Crimea Oleg Nikolaevich Shcherbakov, the Public Chamber informs about the unanimous position of the chamber members: to suspend the powers of O.N. Shcherbakov. until all objective causes of the accident involving him are clarified— says the message from the OP RK.

The issue of Shcherbakov’s membership will be considered at an in-person meeting of the Public Chamber in the near future.

Some details of this terrible accident. It all happened at 00:05 on Kievskaya Street, near house No. 6. The culprit of the accident was moving from the direction of the square. Kuibysheva in the direction of st. Bespalova. At some point, he entered the lane intended for oncoming traffic, as a result of which he collided with a Daewoo Nexia car, driven by a driver born in 1992, moving towards him. After which a Volkswagen Touareg collided with a Skoda Octavia driven by a driver born in 1961. As a result of the accident, three car drivers were injured and taken to the hospital. We repeat, unfortunately, one person died.

The information that Oleg Shcherbakov was drunk at the time of the accident has not yet been officially confirmed (but such data is circulating on social networks today).

The Crimean Prosecutor’s Office is monitoring the progress of the investigation into a criminal case initiated on the basis of a traffic accident involving three cars. The Investigative Committee will also join in clarifying the circumstances of the accident with victims in Simferopol. So everything in this story will be objective and factual.
