A photo exhibition dedicated to the heroes of the Northern Military District opened in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The photo exhibition “Heroes of the Special Operation,” which is dedicated to the country’s defenders located in the Northern Military District zone, was organized by the Government of Sevastopol and the regional branch of “Russia Today” in Simferopol.

It is very important to keep the story in the moment. There is nothing better than the invention of a camera, a video camera, which allows us to capture these precious moments. And then, someday, our descendants will study history in this way, to see what happened to their ancestors. Today we see excellent implementation of work by guys who, probably, in a sense, can also be called SVO fighters — Dmitry and Konstantin. They took wonderful photographs, captured moments that were fateful for all of us, moments from the special operation. They are fateful because now we are defending the right of our children, future generations to live in peace, happiness, joy without fascism. We defend those values that are important to us — this is family, our Fatherland. I want to thank the guys for the work done. Indeed, you look at photographs and understand that you cannot look at them for a few seconds; you want to live this moment depicted in the photograph. I think that history will put everything in its place, and one day the world will understand everything. And, of course, I want to wish us all a speedy Victory, and that the guys return home safe and healthy– the press service of the Government of Sevastopol quotes the deputy governor of the city, Alexander Kulagin.

The chief editor of the radio “Sputnik in Crimea” of the regional branch of the media group “Russia Today” in Simferopol spoke about the main meanings and goals of the exhibition.

We express special gratitude to the Government of Sevastopol for supporting our project. We have been working here for almost 10 years. And all these 10 years we have been trying and working towards one important goal for all of us, and it manifested itself very clearly in 2022 — protecting our history from falsification. Defense of our country, our Motherland. This year is the 80th anniversary of the liberation of Sevastopol and Crimea, and we have seen how destructive the power of fascism can be. Today we understand how important it is to ensure that this does not happen again. It is the fighters whom our photojournalist colleagues captured in photographs who enable us to continue our lives in a peaceful country. I wish that they all returned alive, so that perhaps we could meet one of the guys here and tell them that while they were there, we talked about them, we thought about them. Today, truth is such a piece goods, so it’s great that many, including us, have begun to turn to photographs. There’s nothing you can think of or invent here, these are the photographic facts that will be with us. Special thanks to our correspondents for the fact that we can see the guys through their lens, through their eyes. Our exhibition is a reminder that we are all a united frontnotes Svetlana Kalinina, editor-in-chief of Sputnik in Crimea radio.

The exhibition presents unique photographs of Dmitry Makeev and Konstantin Mikhalchevsky, which were taken in the special operation zone in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Each of the photographs is intended to pay tribute and gratitude to our defenders and support those who are waiting for Heroes at home.

We started working in July 2022. They worked in the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. To be honest, after the 25th business trip I stopped counting how many photographs we took. Indeed, now I don’t know how many of them were made in total. Probably about a thousand. I believe that all this needs to be documented, because everything will then go to the archives. These photographs capture moments in life when something is happening in it. Photography doesn’t convey much, of course. For example, smells. Or sounds. But it is still very important to leave a memory of this life. The most important thing is for people to see what is happening there, – says photojournalist Dmitry Makeev.

The exhibition is located on the territory between the Palace of Children and Youth Creativity and the Institute of Biology of the South Seas. Anyone can come and see the work of photojournalists.
