A pickpocket who stole a wallet from a pensioner was detained in Sevastopol

Pretending to shake off dirt from his outerwear, the attacker pulled out a wallet with money from the victim’s trouser pocket. The moment of the theft was recorded by street surveillance cameras.
The police found out that during the day, when the pensioner was waiting for a trolleybus at a public transport stop, a passer-by approached him and said that the elderly man’s shoulder was dirty. The stranger began to pretend that he was helping to clean his outerwear, and at that time he quietly pulled out a wallet containing five thousand rubles from the front pocket of his trousers. After the “caring” man disappeared, the pensioner discovered that his wallet was missing and turned to the police for help.,” noted the press service of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.
Criminal investigation officers of the Russian Department of Internal Affairs for the Leninsky district identified and detained the attacker. He turned out to be a 52-year-old local resident who had previously been prosecuted for similar crimes.
The investigative department opened a criminal case against the detainee under paragraph “g” of Part 2 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Theft”, he faces up to five years in prison.
