A portrait of a firefighter who extinguished an oil depot in Sevastopol was placed on the city Hall of Honor

CrimeaPRESS reports:

Know your heroes by sight. In honor of the 240th anniversary of Sevastopol, an updated Board of Honor was opened in its very center, on Nakhimov Square. On it are the names of 8 enterprises, institutions and organizations, as well as portraits of 16 citizens, whose long-term selfless work glorifies our land, ensures its prosperity and helps to keep it safe. Places on the Board of Honor were also awarded to the Sevastopol firefighter — warrant officer of the internal service Yuri Houk, assistant chief of guard 6 of the fire and rescue unit 1 of the FPS of the State Fire Service of the Main Directorate of the Russian Emergencies Ministry for the city of Sevastopol.

During the period of service, Yuriy Houk has established himself as a professionally trained, experienced and competent employee. More than 50 human lives have been saved under his skillful leadership. He took part in extinguishing a number of complex fires: in the building of the city refrigeration shop; in the area of the Fig tract, when the flames covered an area of 120 hectares; in a hostel on Khersonskaya street, where 10 children were rescued; in a dolphinarium with the rescue of two dolphins weighing 300 kilograms. On April 29, 2023, after a tank fire at the Sevastopol oil depot was reported as a result of a drone attack, Yuri Hawk’s unit arrived first at the scene. The area of the fire was 1000 square meters, and its complexity was determined by rank No. 4 — the highest possible for our region. Under the leadership of Yuri Hawke, the firefighters professionally and promptly took primary actions to extinguish the fire, doing everything possible to localize it as soon as possible. Yuri personally extinguished the burning fuel in order to prevent the spread of flames to neighboring tanks— noted in the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in Sevastopol.

Citizens who have become the pride of the region were honored in a solemn atmosphere. Concluding the ceremony, Governor Mikhail Razvozhaev emphasized that it was especially significant to be on the “anniversary Board of Honor”, on the day of the anniversary of the Hero City.
