A presentation of the book by Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov) “The Death of an Empire. Russian lesson

What do we know about the February Revolution? “Down with the Tsar!”, “Long live the people!”, “Freedom!”, “Bread!”, “Land and Freedom!”. It is obvious: there was no freedom in the country, the peasants had no land, the people lived terribly. This is confirmed by the recently published school and university history textbooks: “Life in Russia was characterized by poverty, backwardness, the heavy oppression of the autocracy, and military devastation.” But was it really like that?

What else do we not know about our country? And why don’t we want to know? But maybe it’s true: why stir up the affairs of bygone times? You can’t change anything in the past; what was was. We must live in the present. And the future. But what kind of future awaits those who do not want to remember their past? The book of Metropolitan Tikhon of Simferopol and Crimea “The Death of the Empire. Russian lesson» — about the great and practically unknown to most of us Russian Empire, built by many generations of our ancestors. And disappeared in a matter of days.

February Revolution of 1917. Parallels with our time. Those events mercilessly show what we ourselves are capable of bringing our country to. How great is the risk of recurrence?

The book deals not only with what Russia was like before 1917. Metropolitan Tikhon conducts an important conversation with the reader on the basis of almost three hundred archival and scientific sources and documents. The reader will find out what and why happened to Russia then? What should we even do with this part of our history that we are now rediscovering for ourselves?

Media representatives and bloggers are invited to the event. Accreditation is required until 18:00 on December 6. More details — HERE.
