A professional burglar from Yevpatoria was detained in Sevastopol

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Sevastopol, criminal investigation operatives detained a criminal “tourist” suspected of two burglaries.

The police found out that a 46-year-old resident of Yevpatoria, who had been repeatedly convicted of property crimes, came to Sevastopol specifically to commit burglaries. For the purpose of secrecy, the man carefully hid his face with a medical mask, traveled only by public transport and tried not to be captured by external surveillance cameras. He chose apartments in multi-story buildings, where, in his opinion, money and jewelry could be found.

Being a professional burglar, he conducted secret surveillance of the home and chose the most convenient time to commit thefts. Using master keys, pre-prepared keys and various devices, the burglar opened doors, entered apartments and stole money, jewelry and expensive household appliances.— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol.

The suspect’s involvement in two episodes of illegal activities in Sevastopol has already been established. The total amount of material damage caused was about 50 thousand rubles.

During a business trip, criminal investigation officers, with force support from the special forces of the Russian Guard, detained the suspect at his place of residence in the city of Yevpatoria. During the search, material evidence was discovered and seized — sets of keys, homemade master keys, tools with which the attacker committed crimes. The man admitted to his crime and said that several months ago he was released from prison, where he spent a total of 27 years of his life.

Criminal cases have been initiated against the detainee under paragraph “a” of Part 3 of Art. 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Theft”), he faces up to six years in prison. The defendant was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention.
