A project to preserve the memory of the Hero of the Soviet Union Stepan Neustroev was presented in Sevastopol

In Sevastopol, a presentation of the project «Preserving the historical memory of the exploits of the Hero of the Soviet Union Stepan Andreyevich Neustroev» took place. 100 — the anniversary of his birth will be celebrated on 12 August.

Stepan Andreevich Neustroev — Soviet officer, participant in the Great Patriotic War, commander of the 1st Infantry Battalion 756 th Infantry Regiment 150 th Infantry Division that stormed the Reichstag. For a successful operation to hoist the Banner of Victory, by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.

The project to preserve the memory of Stepan Neustroev in 2021 received support in the amount of 2 million rubles as the winner of a grant competition among socially oriented non-profit organizations in Sevastopol.

The authors of the project held a competition of videos dedicated to the life of the Hero of the Soviet Union, published a book, designed and approved the artistic concept of the bust of Stepan Andreyevich. It will be installed and solemnly opened 13 on August on Kombat Neustroev Alley near Victory Park.

We have been holding various events for a whole year, the main task of this project is to preserve the historical memory of our heroes. The book «The Way to the Reichstag» was created according to the manuscript of Stepan Andreevich, in which he wrote everything about his life. We decided to make both the book and the monument together with the public. There was a competition for the title of the book, as well as for the design of the monument. The children created five films about Stepan Andreyevich , — says Ivan Kryzhanivsky, project manager, chairman of the Blockpost Sevastopol organization.

In addition, within the framework of the project, meetings were held with schoolchildren and students dedicated to the heroic path of Stepan Andreyevich Neustroev. Veterans and members of the public, as well as the daughter of the Hero of the Soviet Union, Tatyana Neustroyeva, took part in them.

Recall that this year the amount of financial support for socially oriented non-profit organizations is 28, 1 million rubles. The Government of Sevastopol raised half of the funds additionally thanks to successful work with the Presidential Grants Fund.
