A «realtor» was detained in Simferopol. She deceived three dozen clients

CrimeaPRESS reports:

In Simferopol, criminal investigation officers exposed the fraudulent activities of a local Crimean resident who, under the guise of a real estate agent, provided dishonest real estate services.

The 41-year-old woman posted ads on one of the websites about providing assistance in renting apartments in Simferopol at an attractive price, and convinced the citizens who responded to transfer money to her as an advance payment before viewing the housing. And for greater credibility, she rented an office where she could sign contracts.

The fraudster worked according to a rather primitive scheme: she signed contracts with clients, after payment she transferred or sent to customers the addresses of non-existent apartments or contacts of owners whose housing had long been rented. The realtor estimated her services from 5 to 14 thousand rubles. Thus, the fraudster worked for almost two and a half years– the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea reported.

The operatives managed to identify the victims who paid money, spent time searching for fictitious addresses, but never received the expected service. Also, when contacting the realtor’s office, the deceived citizens were denied a refund.

At the moment, it is known that 31 people turned to the real estate agent’s services, from whom the woman received more than 230 thousand rubles.

For each of these facts, the investigator of the police department No. 3 «Central» of the city of Simferopol initiated a number of criminal cases under Part 2 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (fraud). The offender faces a maximum punishment of imprisonment for up to 5 years.

Police officers are establishing the suspect’s involvement in similar crimes.
