A resident of Feodosia received 3 years and 6 months in prison for setting fire to a car

The Feodosiya City Court of the Republic of Crimea sentenced a 49-year-old local resident for the deliberate destruction of someone else’s property by arson, which caused significant damage to a citizen.

The court found that in August 2019, the defendant, realizing his suddenly arisen criminal intent aimed at destroying someone else’s property by arson — the Gentra car, which was parked near one of the houses, after making sure that no one was watching his actions, put the sheets paper under the fender liner of the left front wheel of the car and with the help of a lighter, set fire to the sheets of paper, as a result of which the fender liner caught fire. The man then fled the scene of the crime. From the criminal actions of the defendant, the flames spread over the surface of the paintwork of the vehicle body, as well as into the passenger compartment and the area of ​​the engine compartment, making the vehicle unusable, and also destroying the Pioneer radio tape recorder installed in the car, worth 10,000 rubles— noted in the press service of the court.

By his deliberate actions, the defendant caused significant property damage in the total amount of 500,000 rubles.

At the hearing, the defendant fully admitted his guilt in the deed.

When passing the verdict, the court took into account the identity of the defendant, who has no previous convictions, is not registered with a narcologist and psychiatrist, is characterized negatively at the place of residence, and positively at the place of work.

As mitigating circumstances, the court recognized the active contribution to the disclosure and investigation of crimes through confessions during the entire period of the investigation, as well as the admission of guilt and repentance for the deed, the surrender, the presence of dependent young children and an elderly mother.

Circumstances aggravating the punishment of the defendant by the court, not established. The civil suit filed by the victim was satisfied in full. The court appointed, taking into account the circumstances of the case, the defendant was sentenced to 3 (three) years and 6 (six) months in prison to be served in a colony-settlement. The verdict has not entered into force.
