A resident of Krasnoperekopsk will stand trial for using violence against a police officer

CrimeaPRESS reports:

The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol completed a criminal investigation against a 36-year-old resident of Krasnoperekopsk, accused of public insult and the use of violence dangerous to life and health against a government official (Part 1 of Article 319, Part 2 Article 318 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

The investigative department for the city of Krasnoperekopsk established that a drunk local resident tried to break into the apartment of his ex-wife. The woman called the police, but the man reacted inadequately to the lawful comments of the arriving law enforcement officer — he attacked and knocked the policeman to the floor, trying to grab his service pistol from his holster, using a chokehold on the official. The attacker’s actions were promptly stopped, but he continued to insult a law enforcement officer in the presence of residents of the house— reported in Sledkom.

The investigating authorities gave an appropriate legal assessment to the actions of the accused. The criminal investigation has been completed. The resident of the Krasnoperekopsky district admitted guilt in full for the crime.

The materials were sent to the prosecutor’s office for the purpose of studying, approving the indictment and further sending the case to court for consideration on the merits.
