A resident of Simferopol cheated a business partner by as much as 6.5 million rubles

CrimeaPRESS reports:

A resident of Simferopol will stand trial on charges of fraud against a failed business partner.

The Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol completed the investigation of a criminal case against a 39-year-old resident of the Simferopol region. He is accused of committing fraud on an especially large scale (part 4 of article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation)— reported in the Investigative Committee.

The deception was not cunning, but it worked. In June 2022, a Simferopol resident told his friend about the promising development of a business in the field of conservation of municipal solid waste in Volgograd. At the same time, he offered to transfer to him the money allegedly needed as a bribe to officials of the city administration for the smooth conclusion of contracts during the implementation of the project. In exchange, he promised to include a friend as a partner in the founders of the company being created and appoint him as a director.

From August to September 2022, the victim transferred the required amount of 6.5 million rubles, which his friend disposed of at his own discretion, moreover, he did not have the opportunity to fulfill his obligations.

The criminal intent of the attacker was identified by operational officers of the OEBiPK of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol in March 2023. The accused pleaded guilty to the crime. Damage caused to the victim compensated in full— noted in the Sledkom.

At present, the investigation of the criminal case has been completed. The case materials were sent to the prosecutor’s office for the purpose of studying, signing the indictment and sending the case to court.
