A resident of Simferopol decided to add another term to his criminal record. Accused of fraud

The day before, the Simferopol police received two statements from local residents that an unknown girl called their landlines. The caller introduced herself as a law enforcement officer and told the applicants that their relatives had been in an accident. To help the injured girl, funds in the amount of 500 and 800 thousand rubles are needed. The victims must transfer the funds to a courier, who will arrive at their place of residence within a few hours. Having lost their composure, the applicants, without double-checking the information, agreed to the scammers’ tricks and handed over the money to the arriving courier.

Employees of the criminal investigation department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Simferopol, as a result of operational search activities, established the identity of the person involved in the commission of the crime. Operatives managed to detain the suspect at his place of residence. He turned out to be a 30-year-old Simferopol resident previously convicted of murder.— reported the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Crimea.

At the police department, the Simferopol resident admitted that he found a part-time job as a “courier” on the Internet on one of the popular instant messengers. He acted under the direction of an unknown person, who gave him instructions to carry out the necessary actions aimed at receiving funds, with their subsequent transfer to an unidentified person on cards. He received 10% of each amount for this.

An investigator from the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Simferopol initiated criminal cases on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Fraud”). The sanction of the article provides for a maximum penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to six years.

The attacker was taken into custody. His involvement in committing similar acts in the territory of the Republic of Crimea is being investigated.
