A resident of Simferopol was sentenced to 13 years in prison for committing the murder of a girl in 2009
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The evidence collected by the Main Investigation Department of the RF Investigative Committee for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol was recognized by the court as sufficient to convict a 61-year-old resident of Simferopol of committing a murder 14 years ago (Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
The investigative department for the Kievsky district of the city of Simferopol and the court established that late in the evening of October 23, 2009, a quarrel broke out between a man and his new acquaintance on Plotinnaya Street, as a result of which he struck the woman on the head several times with a stone. The attacker left a fatally injured resident of Simferopol in the thickets of vegetation of the city reservoir, where her body was later discovered by passers-by— reported in Sledkom.
At that time, law enforcement agencies carried out significant work to identify and search for the person who committed the crime. According to the words of passers-by, an identikit was even compiled, but the measures did not bring any results.
In March of this year, the investigation into this criminal case was resumed. Investigators analyzed the information available in the case, re-examined the circumstances and physical evidence.
At the time of the crime, an object with a genomic trace left by the attacker was found next to the deceased. When the investigation into the criminal case was resumed, he was entered into a modern database, which showed a 100% match with the genotype of a resident of Simferopol serving a sentence in a maximum security colony in Adygea for a sex crime committed against a minor in 2017.
When presented with a set of evidence, the man fully admitted his guilt. He was transferred from places of detention to Simferopol for investigative actions, where, during the verification of testimony on the ground, he spoke in detail about the circumstances of the murder.— said the Sledkom.
By a court verdict, the man was found guilty of the crime charged and sentenced to 13 years in prison to be served in a maximum security correctional colony. The court’s verdict did not enter into legal force.
