CrimeaPRESS reports:
As part of systematic work to uncover and investigate crimes of past years, a resident of one of the villages of the Dzhankoy district was charged with intentionally causing grievous bodily harm, resulting in the death of the victim through negligence (Part 4 of Article 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
It was established that on the night of July 24, 2013, in the courtyard of a private household in the village of Volnoye, a man beat his 59-year-old father during an argument, causing him numerous injuries. A day later, the victim died, and at that time the son put forward to law enforcement authorities a version of an attack on a relative by unknown persons on one of the streets of the village— reported in Sledkom.
For many years the crime remained unsolved. Investigators and forensic investigators of the State Investigative Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol resumed the investigation of this criminal case, re-examined all material evidence, interrogated a circle of people of interest to the investigation, and, with the assistance of employees of the regional criminal investigation unit, established the circumstances of that tragic evening.
An investigator from the investigative department in the city of Dzhankoy established psychological contact with the son of the deceased man. When presented with a set of evidence, he confessed to committing a crime against his father, admitting his guilt in full. During the verification of evidence on the spot, he spoke about the circumstances of the crime committed.
In total, since the beginning of the year, investigators and criminologists of the State Investigative Directorate for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol have solved 55 crimes of past years, including serious and especially serious acts 10 and 20 years ago.
