A resident of the Sovetsky district of the Republic of Crimea was caught purchasing and storing explosive devices

The Sovetsky District Court of the Republic of Crimea passed a verdict against a resident of the Sovetsky District for the acquisition and storage of explosive devices (Part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
As established by the court, on April 27, 2023, at approximately 12:00 p.m., he found two explosive devices among scrap metal, after which, anticipating the possibility of socially dangerous consequences of his actions in the form of a violation of public safety, in violation of Federal Law No. 150 of December 13, 1996. “On weapons” and Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation No. 1314 of October 15, 1997. “On approval of the rules for the circulation of military hand-held small arms and other weapons, ammunition and cartridges for them, as well as edged weapons in state paramilitary organizations,” prohibiting the circulation of explosive devices on the territory of the Russian Federation for individuals who illegally acquired them, and then hid the explosive devices in the hole of a stone wall serving as a fencing of the territory of the household, where they began to be illegally stored until September 20, 2023 inclusivenoted the press service of the court.
September 21, 2023 Police officers inspected the outside of the stone fence of the property, during which two shells, which are explosive devices, were removed from a hole in the wall: an artillery shell of 76 mm caliber; artillery fragmentation-tracer projectile of 37 mm caliber.
At the court hearing, the defendant fully admitted his guilt in committing the crime and repented of his crime.
According to the nature and degree of public danger, the crime committed belongs to the category of serious crimes.
The court recognized the following circumstances mitigating the defendant’s punishment: active assistance in the detection and investigation of the crime, repentance for what he had done, awareness of the wrongfulness of his behavior, full admission of guilt, committing a crime for the first time, disability and health status of the defendant’s mother, as well as voluntary donation.
Having comprehensively studied the case materials, taking into account the nature and degree of public danger of the act committed, the court found the Crimean citizen guilty of committing a crime and sentenced him to imprisonment for 4 years with a fine of 15,000 rubles. In accordance with Article 73 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the punishment was suspended, with a probationary period of 2 years, during which the convicted person must prove his correction by his behavior
The verdict did not enter into legal force.
