A resident of the Sovietsky district of the Republic of Crimea was placed under house arrest for trying to discredit the Russian Federation

The Sovetsky District Court of the Republic of Crimea has chosen a preventive measure in the form of house arrest for a resident of the village of Sovetsky in the Sovetsky District of the Republic of Crimea for committing a deliberate crime against the foundations of the constitutional order and state security (Part 1 of Article 280.3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

As established by the court, the man, being in a public place, in the Sovietsky District Court of the Republic of Crimea, having been brought to administrative responsibility less than one year ago for committing an administrative offense under Part 1 of Article 20.3.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation, began shouting phrases discrediting the Russian Federation, including the activities of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation on the conduct of a special military operation on the territory of Ukraine. At the court hearing, the suspect and his defense attorney did not object to the selection of a preventive measure in the form of house arrest. The court did not find grounds for choosing a more lenient preventive measure against the suspect, since this, taking into account the nature of the act of which he is suspected, will not ensure his proper behavior— the court’s press service reported.

The court, having heard the participants in the process and studied the personality of the suspect, chose a preventive measure in the form of house arrest and established the following prohibitions: leaving the residential premises where he lives around the clock, except in the following cases: his delivery by the supervisory authority at the request of the investigator, prosecutor, or court; appearance at medical institutions; sending and receiving postal and telegraph messages; using communication facilities and the information and telecommunications network «Internet»; conducting negotiations using any technical means of communication, with the exception of telephone conversations with the defense attorney protecting his rights and interests, the supervisory authority, the investigator, as well as with the exception of telephone conversations related to calling emergency services, services of medical institutions, with informing the supervisory authority about each call.

The court ruling has not entered into legal force.
