A resident of the Stavropol Territory, who worked as a courier for remote scammers, was detained in Sevastopol

It was established that a 30-year-old resident of the Stavropol Territory, in order to make easy and quick money, found an advertisement for work as a courier in one of the chats of a popular messenger. He contacted the anonymous channel administrator and, after clarifying the details, agreed to cooperate. At the direction of the curators, the man went to Sevastopol and paid a visit to three residents of the hero city, who had been previously called by the scammers, introduced themselves as law enforcement officers and reported that their relatives were allegedly responsible for the accident. Under the pretext of exemption from liability, the attackers convinced the victims to hand over large sums of cash to the arriving courier. Following the instructions received, the suspect came to the pensioners in compliance with secrecy measures, and carefully hid his face with a cap and mask. The courier transferred the money stolen by fraud to the accounts dictated to him, leaving 10% of the amount for himself— note the press service of the Government of Sevastopol.
As a result of going on a business trip to the Stavropol Territory, employees of the Criminal Investigation Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Sevastopol detained an accomplice of telephone scammers.
The investigative department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in the Gagarinsky district initiated criminal cases based on crimes under Part 2 and Part 3 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Fraud”. The defendant was chosen as a preventive measure in the form of detention.
