A resident of Yalta was convicted of sexual crimes against children committed in 2014.
CrimeaPRESS reports:
The evidence collected by the Main Investigation Department of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol was recognized by the court as sufficient to convict the 42-year-old resident of Yalta. He was found guilty of violent acts of a sexual nature against persons under 12 years of age (clause “b”, part 4 of article 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
An investigator from the Department for Investigation of Particularly Important Cases and the court established that in June 2014, a man near one of the houses in Yalta noticed two previously unknown minor children, who at that time, as the investigation later established, were 5 and 6 years old. Under the pretext of playing with them, the attacker took the boy and girl into the entrance of the house, where he committed violent acts of a sexual nature against them— reported in Sledkom.
As part of systematic work to uncover and investigate crimes of past years, the suspect was detained in May 2022.
The DNA examination carried out as part of the investigation made it possible to quickly confirm the complete coincidence of his genotype with the traces left by the attacker in 2014 at the crime scene.
In the course of competently structured work, the investigator in especially important cases received a confession from the detainee and detailed confessions in the commission of this crime, as well as in relation to a similar fact — in relation to another minor in the city of Chelyabinsk. At the request of the investigation, the court took the man into custody. During the investigation, the entire range of evidence was collected, the necessary examinations were appointed and carried outnoted the Investigative Committee.
By a court verdict, the accused was found guilty of the crimes charged and sentenced to 6 years and 6 months to be served in a maximum security correctional colony with further restriction of freedom for a period of 1.5 years.
